Chess Accessories

Although you only need a chess board and pieces to play the game, there are many accessories that can help to make the game a little easier to play. These are items that you do not need, but it would sure help to have them.

If you purchase a chess set that does not contain it's own chess pieces you will definitely need to get a container to hold your chess pieces as it would not be good to lose even one pawn or rooke.

You also have the option of getting a case or bag for your board to be stored in. This will help preserve your board and keep it from being damaged when not in use or while traveling.

A chess timer is an excellent accessory for the avid chess player. The timer allows for each player to have an equal amount of time to complete each of their moves. Once the player has completed their move they press down on the switch on the top of the timer and the timer stops for them and begins counting down for the opponent. If the time goes off before the player has made a move, they will immediately have to complete a move so that the other player can continue. This helps make the game more interesting and exciting.
