Chess boards
over the years
The chess board has stayed pretty constant over the centuries with
the black and white pattern so familiar to us as the mainstay in the
game of chess. The main change you may see occur would be the color
black being replaced by other colors, but the main pattern and
structure of the board is pretty timeless.
As with the chess pieces you can select your chess set in a variety
of materials; glass, marble, wood or even plastic or cardboard. You
can also have a chess set that is made to hold the many chess pieces
that go with it allowing you to never lose your game pieces. These
chess sets are an excellent idea for those that enjoy taking their
game on the road. Chess sets can be built into solid tables and
folding tables and can also be built to hold the pieces to the game,
however these game tables do not allow for easy transportation of
your chess game.
The key question is how to choose the right chess board and pieces
for you? Cost can be a major contributing factor when choosing a
game. If keeping the cost down is important for you the chess boards
made of cardboard and plastic are the most cost effective, however
if cost is not an issue the marble, glass and wooden boards and
pieces cannot be beat for their durability and looks.
