Chess Game Pieces for Every Interest

Chess game layouts and pieces can sometimes be very confusing to some. Not every person can name the pieces or know how to move them across the board.

The Royal pieces are the King and Queen, which are flanked on either side by the Bishops, the Knights and the Rooks. Each piece moves in a unique way unto itself. The King can only move one square at a time while the Bishop can only move in a diagonal pattern. The front row on the board is for the eight Pawns, which are usually used for sacrificial and blocking functions.

With a lot of practice, skill and a mastering of planning your best moves you can become a master chess player.

For many collectors and for those that simply love the beauty of a nice chess set, game pieces can be a work of art, from beautify fantasy based pieces to classic replicas of 12th century sets. There are even theme sets based on movies and old television shows such as Star Wars and Star Trek. The range of creativity in only limited by the artists own imagination.

There are chess sets to be found for any collector, fan or person interested in the game for hobby. You can find the pieces and game boards in styles ranging from hand crafted and painted by artisans, rare, hard to find antiques or the many machine manufactured types available in retail stores, toy stores, hobby shops and especially through online distributors.
