Pricing a Chess Set: A
buyers guide
A lot of factors determine the cost of a chess set.
Some
of these factors are as follows:
The type of wood used in the set and on the board.
Obviously if it is made of a cheaper wood, then the
price should be accordingly priced.
When determining the quality of the set look at the
knights in particular. A superbly crafted and carved
night can represent up to 50% of the total costs of the
chess pieces. Then look at the quality of the turnings,
finish in the uniformity. You can also determine the
craftsmanship of a set by looking at the King's Crown.
Is
it detailed or simply a bland crown with no carvings?
The more detailed, the more expensive the chess set -
usually is.
